No account, no tracking, no cloud. Plaans stores plans, photos and projects only on your iPad or iPhone – and they leave it only when you want them to.
Floor plans, photos of defects, voice notes: often confidential data belonging to your clients.
You decide what goes into the app and where it goes afterwards.
You import plans through the iOS Files app or via Wi-Fi sync. Your computer connects directly to the iPad on your own network – without a detour through the internet.
Plaans stores markups, photos, voice notes and measurements locally in the app's protected storage. No internet connection needed.
You pass on reports and projects through the iOS share sheet – by email, to the Files app, to your NAS. You choose the destination on every export. Nothing is transferred automatically.
A complete list – to forward to your IT team or data protection officer.
| Occasion | Recipient | What is transmitted |
|---|---|---|
| Buying a subscription or credits | Apple (App Store) | The purchase runs entirely through your Apple ID. To verify it, the app sends the purchase receipt to Apple. We receive no payment data. |
| Opening help or the imprint in the app | plaans.com | An ordinary page request, as in a browser. Only when you open the page. |
| Only with Plaans Enterprise: connecting a device and checking it at app start | app.plaans.com | Email address, account ID, a randomly generated device ID and the device name – so the licence is assigned to the right device. |
Plans, photos, voice notes, measurements and project names are never transmitted in any of these cases.
You don't need an account with us to use the app. Purchases run through your Apple ID; we know neither your name nor your email address.
The app contains no third-party analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDK. We can't see how often or for what you use Plaans.
There is no Plaans server holding your projects. What doesn't exist can't be hacked or shut down.
Documenting, measuring and creating reports all work without a connection. Even Plaans Enterprise doesn't lock the app while the device is offline.
Every export is a deliberate decision: you choose the recipient and destination in the share sheet. We're not involved.
With Plaans Enterprise we store only what licence management needs: your employees' name and email plus device name and device ID. Not even the account owner sees any content.
Plaans itself uploads nothing to a cloud. If iOS device backup is enabled (iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer), iOS backs up Plaans data like that of any other app. Whether you want that is up to you or your IT team via the device settings.
Regardless, we recommend regularly exporting important projects as a ZIP file through the share sheet and storing it elsewhere. The tutorial shows how.
When you start sync in Plaans, the app opens a small web server on the iPad. Your computer connects to it directly in the browser – the data only travels through your local network, not the internet. When you end the sync, the server shuts down again.
While it is running, any device on the same network can reach it. So only use Wi-Fi sync on a network you trust, not on open guest or hotel Wi-Fi. Alternatively, you can import through the Files app.
Your project data isn't – it stays on the device. When you make a purchase, the app communicates with Apple, like any app with in-app purchases. What happens to your data when you contact support by email is described in our privacy policy.
When you delete the app, iOS also deletes all plans and projects stored in it. Export anything you want to keep first. We can't restore anything because we have no copy.
Since the data lives only on the device, the device lock is its main protection: a passcode, Face ID or Touch ID makes iOS encrypt the storage. With Find My or your mobile device management (MDM), a lost device can also be wiped remotely.
