Answers to the questions we hear most often.
After installing the app you get 2 credits for free. Each new plan base (e.g. a floor plan or a sketch) uses 1 credit; importing a complete Plaans project uses 2 credits.
All features of the app stay available – credits are only needed to create or import new plans. Once your credits are used up, you can buy more or subscribe. Credits never expire and can be combined freely, but they are tied to the device they were bought on.
With a subscription you can create unlimited plans and import as many projects as you like. For teams there is Plaans Enterprise with volume discounts. The price shown in the App Store always applies.
A subscription runs for one month from the date of purchase and renews automatically. You can cancel it at any time in your Apple ID's subscription settings – at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
You can keep using the full version until the period ends. After that, the app switches back to the standard version: your existing plans and projects remain fully available, you just can't import new plans or projects anymore.
No. An App Store subscription applies to the device or Apple ID it was purchased with and can't be transferred. If you want to use Plaans on several devices across a team, Plaans Enterprise is the right fit.
With Plaans Enterprise you manage your team's device licenses centrally on the web: add and remove devices, one bill for all devices and automatically generated monthly invoices – independent of individual Apple IDs.
The more devices you use, the lower the price per device. Get in touch and we'll set up your access.
Yes, with Plaans Enterprise. You pay for all devices together on a single invoice instead of every employee subscribing individually in the App Store. Without Enterprise access, subscriptions and credits are purchased per device or Apple ID.
Billing via VPP is currently not available. To manage several devices centrally, please use Plaans Enterprise.
App Store purchases are tied to the Apple ID they were made with and can't be moved to another Apple ID. If you use the same Apple ID on your new device, you can usually reactivate a subscription via “Restore purchases”. Credits are tied to the device they were bought on.
On your old device, export your projects as a ZIP file via the share sheet (e.g. to the Files app or iCloud Drive), then import them into Plaans on your new device. There is no automatic device-to-device transfer. The tutorial shows both steps.
The app itself doesn't require an account, so there is no account ID – your purchases run through your Apple ID. If you have questions about a purchase, we're happy to help based on your Apple purchase receipt.
Either via the iOS Files app or via Wi-Fi sync: start a sync server in Plaans and connect to it from your computer's browser over your local Wi-Fi.
Via the iOS share sheet. Plaans creates a compressed ZIP file, and you decide where to save it and who to share it with.
Important: if you want to re-import an exported Plaans project later, don't rename the file – otherwise the import will fail.
As a print-ready PDF report including photos, comments and links to audio recordings, and as an Excel-compatible CSV file, e.g. for automated processing.
In most cases this is caused by the settings of the local network. Please check:
If that doesn't help, write to us and tell us what you want to transfer (individual PDFs or whole projects) and which devices you are connecting (e.g. Windows PC and iPad, or Mac and iPad).
Yes. You can always import and export plans and projects via the iOS Files app as well – no sync server needed.
Tested and compatible are the Leica DISTO series and the HILTI PD-I. Other manufacturers that use a standard Bluetooth LE interface should generally work as well. Bosch devices (e.g. GLM 50-27 C) use their own interface and are currently not supported.
A direct connection to thermal imaging cameras (e.g. FLIR C8) is currently not supported.
The app doesn't collect any usage or tracking data. All plans, photos and projects are stored exclusively on your device, not in a cloud. No registration is required. Only if you use Plaans Enterprise do we store an identifier of the assigned devices for license management. Details are in our privacy policy.
Only you. Data gets into the app via the Files app or the sync server on your own Wi-Fi, and only leaves it when you export it yourself via the share sheet. Nothing is transferred automatically to us or to third parties.
Since there is no automatic cloud backup, we recommend exporting important projects regularly via the share sheet and storing the ZIP file elsewhere – e.g. in iCloud Drive, on your computer or on a NAS.
Unfortunately there is no trash bin. If you exported the project before, you can simply import it again – as long as the export file hasn't been renamed. Without a previous export, the plan can't be restored.
To remove a single plan, tap the pencil icon next to the plan name and then the trash icon. Whole groups or projects can be deleted in their respective settings dialog.
No, Plaans is currently only available for iPhone and iPad in the App Store.
